• The prayer life of many believers is full of activities, religion and emotions, void of power. As believers, we need the help of God to pray effectively.

Revelation 5:10 (KJV)
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

• Believers are mandated to pray, a non-praying Christian neglects his Priestly ministry.

Matthew 21:13 (KJV)
And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

• One of the major ways Jesus built His disciples is through the Teaching ministry. Believers are primarily built through the accurate teaching of the Word.
• Preaching entails bringing men into the awareness of reality, while teaching provides explanation and insight into the methodology, operation, and application of these principles.

Luke 11:1 (KJV)
And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

• The disciple’s request to be taught how to pray did not arise from a state of prayerlessness but a desire to pray effective and result-producing prayers.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Key Points to Effective Prayer:

1. Our Father:
The kind of prayer that produces results must first begin with an understanding of who you are praying to.

Romans 8:15 (KJV)
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Matthew 7:11 (KJV)
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

• You must approach God with an understanding that He is not an option, but the Saviour and Sustainer, Who is able in Himself to provide your needs. Therefore, you must dislodge fear and doubt and ask in confidence.
• The Love and Fatherhood of God is a revelation that believers must carry. The major characteristics of Fatherhood is giving.

2. “Who art in Heaven”
You must have the understanding that God dwells in another realm, which is not the earth. Hence, being unable to see Him, you must approach Him in faith.

Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

• The most powerful state of a believer is the ability to act without seeing or hearing, but believing.
• A believer who cannot act in faith cannot have extraordinary results.

3. “Hallowed be Your Name”
This refers to Reverence and Honour.
Although God is Father, you must still maintain an awareness that He is God. Approaching Him in confidence does not entail pride and dishonor.

…but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

Matthew 6:10 (KJV)
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

4. “Thy Kingdom come”
The entire scope of your prayer must be hinged on seeing the will and purposes of God come to pass. Hence, your petitions must be aligned with His Word.

• When praying, your priority should be the heart and intent of the Father. When you forego your needs to intercede for the Kingdom, you command God’s attention. Strive to conquer selfishness in the place of prayer.
• Lift up your voice and pray in the Spirit, briefly.

5. “Give us this day, our daily bread”
Having already established a desire to see God’s Kingdom come, receiving your daily bread (divine provision) takes away constraints and gives you the leverage to focus on Kingdom advancement.

Matthew 6:12 (KJV)
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Key Points to Effective Prayer:

“And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors”
This is a revelation that all men are human; having tendencies to fail and grow weary. Therefore, approach prayers with an understanding that there is an allowance for your humanity.

Psalm 103:13 (KJV)
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

Matthew 18:33 (KJV)
Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

• As you receive grace from God for your humanity in the same vein, reciprocate this allowance in your relationships with other men.
• Every spirit that causes you to lose your temper, I cast it out, in the Name of Jesus!

• Lift up your voice and cry before the Lord, tonight.

“Shout to the Lord all the Earth, let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your Name…” –Song

• Pray: Father, take away doubt and fear from my life.
• Pray: Lord, take away selfishness from my life.
• Pray: Lord, send help into my life.
• It takes being forgiven from your sins to be granted access into God’s Kingdom. Jesus is reaching out to you; heed His call as you pray the Salvation prayer, tonight.
• Salvation Prayer: Lord Jesus, I come before You just as I am. I believe You shed your blood as a remission for my sins, I handover all to You, tonight and I receive Your life, love, and Grace. I declare that I am born again.
